We often chase after the extraordinary. We want to see signs, wonders, and mighty displays of God's power in our lives and our churches. But Acts 2 shows us that power does not come by accident; it follows a very specific divine order.
When the early believers committed themselves to the basics—when doctrine was truly taught, fellowship was genuinely shared, the bread was rightly broken, and prayer was prioritized—something specific happened before any miracles took place. The Scripture says, "And fear came upon every soul."
The very first evidence of a healthy, functioning church is the rekindling of the fear of the Lord. Many people want the signs and wonders of the apostles without cultivating the reverence of the apostles. But God will not entrust His power to a place that lacks holy awe and reverence for His name. The fear of the Lord must come first. It acts as the anchor that keeps us humble, holy, and aligned with His will when the miraculous begins to flow.
If you are praying for God to move powerfully in your life, your family, or your ministry, start by checking the foundation. Are you rooted in His Word? Is your fellowship clean? Are you devoted to prayer? When we get the first part right—walking in deep reverence and obedience before God—the signs and wonders will naturally follow.
