Sometimes, life feels dry, lonely, or difficult. We often think this means we are failing, but the Bible calls it the "pain of growth." Just like a plant’s roots must push through hard, dry dirt to find water, our character grows best in tough times.
The most important part of this is where your growth happens: it must happen before God. True growth isn't about getting people to like you or looking successful to the world. It is about staying in God's presence until He changes you from the inside out. If you are growing just to impress people, you aren't really growing at all—you are just pretending. If your growth isn't rooted in your relationship with God, it won't last when hard times come.
Real growth isn't about being "attractive" or popular; it is about becoming capable. God isn't trying to make you a star for the world to watch. He is busy building your inner strength. He is making your roots deeper so you can handle the big things He has planned for your life. When you grow in secret with God, you build a strength that the world cannot see, but that you need to fulfill your purpose.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for the pain that helps me grow. I know that I only truly change when I am close to You. Please keep me focused on You, not on what others think. Do not let me live for human praise. Instead, build my inner strength so I can do the work You have for me. Amen.
