THE WASHING OF THE WORD

THE WASHING OF THE WORD

Ephesians 5:26-27
"That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."

We routinely wash our bodies to get rid of dust, sweat, and dirt. In the spiritual realm, we encounter similar contamination—anxieties, doubts, small concessions, and the daily pressures that accumulate. Left unattended, these things weigh us down spiritually.

God’s chosen way to purify us is by the washing of water through His Word. Scripture functions both as a mirror and as a cleansing current. When we read, meditate on, and obey God’s Word, it does more than inform us; it cleanses our minds and purifies our hearts, removing the stains of compromise.

Jesus intends to present His church as magnificent, spotless, and holy. That work is not simply up to our effort; it unfolds as we yield continually to the truth of Scripture. Each encounter with the Bible presses into the unseen areas of our lives, scrubbing away residue and renewing us.

Don’t allow worldly dust to harden on your soul. Drink deeply from the waters of God’s Word daily so you may be renewed and prepared.
